children’s ministry
Welcome to Christ Alone Kids!
At Christ Alone, we believe that children are a vital part of our church family. Our ministry is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment where kids can grow in their faith and learn about God's love. Through fun, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons, we aim to partner with parents in teaching the next generation to love and serve Jesus.
Our goal is to help kids build a strong foundation in their faith, discover the joy of following Christ, and develop a lifelong love for Jesus. We do this through our core programs:
Sunday School
-
Christ Alone offers a Sunday School program from 9:00-9:45am during the Bible Study hour. The purpose of this program is to teach Bible story lessons from a curriculum designed for kids (Christ Light), and typically includes singing and an activity or craft to reinforce the lesson.
-
We currently have a one classroom schoolhouse model with preschoolers through elementary children learning together. Children as young as 2 years old are welcome to attend with a parent for the first couple times they come. We are grateful for the parents' support of their young children in learning the patterns of sitting and participation to ensure that they are ready to be a part of class. When older children are present, the teacher will have the opportunity to go deeper with application questions while the younger children will have playtime supervised by an aid.
-
Our volunteer teachers undergo a background check and child protection training as part of their training process. We have a check-in process during which parents are given a tag that they will need to return when they pick up their child. We expect parents to stay in the building for the duration of Sunday School and will come to find parents if a child is injured, needs to use the restroom, or is having a tough time staying in class.
-
Students are given a take-home sheet that includes a summary of the lesson. This is a great tool for parents to be able to glance at as they ask their kids what they learned, and to take home and review later in the week too. As parents regularly show interest in hearing what was learned, it reinforces a positive attitude towards hearing God’s word. Parents sharing with their kids a little about what they learned in adult Bible class is another way to model excitement about studying God’s word with fellow believers.
staffed nursery
-
The “nursery” will be staffed with 2 volunteers focused on caring for children from about 9 months to 3 years old. This will be offered from the song prior to the sermon through the offering. The goal is to support parents in being able to give attention to the sermon while the kids can get a few wiggles out and play before returning for the end of church.
We encourage families to be together in church as parents model for their kids the joy of worshiping God with fellow believers and share in teaching them the meaningful parts of the service. Part of the vision for Christ Alone’s children’s ministry programs in future years is to offer a structured “Kid’s Church” program that aims to teach kids ages 2-5 years about elements of the worship service at their level and to encourage them to participate.
